Director of Purchasing
Position Overview
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring that the organization acquires the necessary materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role involves strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and leading initiatives that enhance the supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the organization's goals.
- Manage a team of purchasing professionals, providing leadership and guidance.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability of materials.
- Conduct supply chain audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to forecast material needs and optimize inventory levels.
- Analyze market trends and pricing to negotiate favorable contracts and pricing agreements.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure they meet quality and delivery standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
- Experience in manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
